Benedict Cumberbatch is a fantastic actor, and I love him in everything I've seen him do so far (even this), but the Ricardo Montalban role was written more like the arrogant, genetically-superior dictator who took over a good portion of planet Earth before the Eugenics Wars. Cumberkahn felt much too needy and dependent—The connection just didn't click at all.

I thought it was a little annoying that Khan, who is supposedly Indian, was played by some white dude. At least Ricardo Montalban wore Indian-ish clothing in TOS. However, his Spanish accent didn't lend authenticity to that role either.

It's not like there aren't any Bollywood or Indian-American actors who could've really sunk their teeth into that role.
